I’ve done quite a few Social Media Banners, Backgrounds, Covers, and color corrected/resized profile images for myself and my clients.
I try hard to stay up on the latest sizes, as they *seem* to change every 9-15 months. If the sizes change within a year of me designing your social media asset, I will adjust the layout to the new size at no charge.
As you can tell, I left “room” on the Facebook Covers and the LinkedIn Background for the profile pics and other info that they put over the top of your cover image.

Each Social Media Outlet has their own sizes and rules for what they allow and what space they may need to use on your image, I take all of that into account when designing your cover image.
